Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), West Garo Hills, was established by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in 1979 and commenced operations on 27th May 1980. It functions under the administrative control of the ICAR-Research Complex for the North Eastern Hills (NEH) Region, Umiam, Meghalaya and is part of ICAR-Agriculture Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone VII. As a key institution dedicated to agricultural development, KVK West Garo Hills serves as a Single Window Knowledge Resource and Capacity Development Centre for farmers, promoting science-led growth in agriculture and allied sectors. By facilitating technology transfer, it has successfully bridged the gap between scientific innovations and on-farm adoption, ensuring sustainable, profitable, and resilient farming in the region.
